Dragons, knights and ladies bring medieval magic to Warwick
Families in Warwick are being invited to become a medieval Knight or Lady, or help to create a gigantic dragon with Warwickshire County Council’s Heritage Education team this Easter half term.
Knights and Ladies takes place on Wednesday 20 April at Market Hall Museum in Warwick, between 10.30am – 12.30pm and 2 – 4pm. This will be a chance to get crafty and design your own shield, with a coat of arms for your family. There will also be a chance to find out more about Warwickshire’s heritage and see some copies of examples of coats of arms and heraldic designs from the Warwickshire County Record Office.
There is no need to book a place for this event, just drop in. The activity costs £2.50 per child or £1 for 5s and under. All ages are welcome, but children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Also on Monday 18th April and Tuesday 19th April from 10.00am - 12.00pm & 1.30pm - 3.30pm, creative (and fearless!) dragon-builders are required for the Dragon Making Workshops at the Wattlewood Room at St Johns Museum in Warwick.
Help make a ferocious dragon for the parade to celebrate St George’s Day in Warwick! At these free workshops, funded by Warwick District Council, you can join in the team effort to help create a giant dragon. There will also be a chance to be part of the parade and help carry the dragon.
Spaces on the free Dragon Making Workshops are limited and must be booked in advance. To book a place, please telephone Heritage Education on 01926 412069. Suitable for all ages but children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Rebecca Williams, Audience Development Officer for Community at Heritage Education said that: “The Easter school holiday is a great time to discover a little bit more about Warwickshire’s rich heritage, and have some fun at the same time with crafty and creative activities suitable for all ages.”
